About the pictures

Most of the pictures have been taken from a 10 volume set entitled "The Bible and its Story" - in 1,000 pictures. This was published back around 1908.

These pictures are from many centuries of work and reflect understandings of the time or the painter's.

Things have to be taken with a grain of salt, as the saying goes. I do not agree with everything that is in the pictures. Such as the age of Daniel when he was thrown in the lions pit - He had to be very old when this happened. Also, the use of the cross as an accurate religious symbol, I do not agree with. Or the picture of Daniel as a child in the beginning of Daniel reading a book when books like that pictured just didn't exist then. Scrolls did but books did not. However, it is to be understood that for the most part, these reflected views at the time of the making of the picture. We can appreciate that as time goes on, views change with more clearer understanding. So simply put, the pictures are not accurate. However, they can help someone to appreciate more fully bible passages. So, enjoy - But with a grain of salt!

If you desire to see the pictures in more detail, some browsers such as Chrome will allow you to right-click the picture and open the picture in a separate tab. If this is chosen, just click on the new tab at the top of the screen with the title of the picture and you will see a much larger picture! Or you can right-click the picture and save it to your computer and from there view it in greater detail too - Enjoy!
